Sports Events

On Wednesday 1st January, Mrs Green and Miss Dalton took 6 children to Towcester Leisure Centre to take part in a Goal-ball tournament. Goal-ball is a fantastic and inclusive sport that allows all children to participate. Each team has three people on it who are blindfolded and are restricted to their set area. The hall has to remain silent as the sport is played with a special ball with bells inside. The players have to listen carefully to where the ball is rolling and try to stop it before it goes past them. If a team are successful in rolling the ball past the opposing team without them blocking it, they score a point.

Pattishall entered two teams into the Goal-ball tournament and, on the day, there were 8 teams in attendance. After 3 games, both teams came second in their pools and were therefore in the semi-final. Pattishall B had to play Flore and Pattishall A played Newbottle. Both teams lost their semi-final matches and then had to play each other in a race for third place! When the 6 minute match was over, both teams had scored 2 goals and we then had a choice to make. We could either play extra time of call it a draw and accept 3rd place for both teams. It was a great honour and achievement to have all 6 members of our teams to stand up and receive 3rd place certificates!

They played incredibly well and we all had a fantastic day!
